The Production Manager is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all manufacturing activities within the nonwoven production facility. This role oversees production teams, assets, and workflows to ensure high-quality output, operational excellence, and consistent alignment with customer specifications. The position drives productivity, cost optimization, and a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with corporate standards and industry best practices.
1. Safety Leadership
- Maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring all work is performed in strict compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Champion safe behaviors on the production floor and ensure all employees and contractors are trained and qualified before performing work.
2. Production Operations
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet production volume, efficiency, and delivery targets.
- Optimize line performance through effective planning, resource allocation, and continuous monitoring of operational KPIs.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline workflows and eliminate waste.
3. Quality Assurance & Customer Requirements
- Ensure all nonwoven materials meet established quality standards and customer specifications.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to align product attributes with process conditions, leveraging SPC and other quality tools.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of product specifications based on proven process capability.
4. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement using methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, and Hoshin.
- Lead initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product consistency.
- Implement and maintain effective SOPs to ensure standardized and repeatable operations.
5. Financial & Budget Management
- Develop and manage the annual departmental budget, monitoring spending and driving cost-reduction initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with budgetary targets related to manufacturing costs, scrap, labor, and asset utilization.
6. Team Leadership & Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to production supervisors, technicians, and line personnel.
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance management to ensure a capable and flexible workforce.
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture focused on results, accountability, and teamwork.
7. Technical Support & Issue Resolution
- Guide teams in troubleshooting manufacturing or quality issues, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to support product improvements, technology upgrades, and new material introduction.
8. Documentation & Compliance
- Supervise the creation and maintenance of operational documentation including product specifications, test methods, GMP procedures, and calibration standards.
- Support capital project planning and execution aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, product quality, and plant reliability.
9. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to define and support customer requirements for new or existing products.
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination across functions to meet commercial and technical objectives.
